Driver's ed questions and answers. Jun 09, 2011 SP1 116,xxx Any help is greatly appreciated. 116k number SP1 thx Jordan Or, if you have a comprehensive list of the old Colt SP1 manufacture dates per serial number. Note: All SP1 serial numbers start with SP, not SP1. If you see a 1 there, it does belong to the serial number. Also the serial numbers listed, except for 1963, 1969, 1970, are the serial number at the first of the year.
It gets down to precise symantics - is the lower stamped as 'Model: SP1'? Or is the there some other 'model type' stamped on the lower, or is there no 'model type' stampled on the lower? The serial number is only that a 'number' (that might contain letters or other characters). I doubt that the serial number can override a lower that is stamped as being some other 'model', and probably can't be used to prove that a lower with no model number is an SP1. Maybe if Colt provides a document saying that a lower with a particular serial number was originally sold as a SP1, that might be OK.
